Jackson and Del Toro to write The Hobbit together

Peter Jackson (director of the original Lord of the Rings trilogy) and Guillermo del Toro (director of Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy 2) have decided to write The Hobbit scripts (they are planning on two films) together.
I know lover’s of the books aren’t too happy with Jackson’s interpretation for the films, so this might be a mixed bag for people. I just hope that del Toro is given carte blanche on this one. With the amount of money undoubtedly going into this, I highly doubt that will happen.
